Ali Mortazavi photo
Ali Mortazavi
CEO
Ali Mortazavi is a seasoned expert in Artificial Intelligence (AI), data-driven solutions, and autonomous mobility, with over 20 years of experience implementing transformative innovations in transportation. His career spans leading roles in both technology giants and public sector initiatives, uniquely positioning him at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and public service. He holds a Ph.D. in Transportation Safety from George Washington University, where his early research laid the groundwork for advanced driver-assistance and autonomous systems.

At Amazon, Ali led key initiatives in both autonomous delivery and enterprise-scale data systems. As a Senior Technical Program Manager for the Amazon Scout team, he advanced the development of last-mile autonomous delivery robots, solving complex challenges in autonomy, teleoperations, and field deployment. He later steered strategic programs to enhance Amazon’s internal retail data lake and cloud infrastructure, designing AI-powered cataloging systems to ensure data privacy and compliance across billions of records.

Before Amazon, Ali was the Head of Autonomous Mobility Research at Nissan’s Silicon Valley Innovation Lab, where he directed end-to-end R&D for advanced autonomous driving technologies. His leadership resulted in pioneering projects that combined AI, real-time infrastructure data, and connected vehicle systems to optimize fleet operations and traffic safety. His contributions in this field are recognized through 14 granted patents (12 US, 2 European) covering breakthrough methods in AI-driven traffic prediction, remote vehicle operation, and intelligent mobility systems.

Randy Iwasaki is an accomplished speaker, executive, and now founder of his own firm, Iwasaki Consulting Services – providing strategic advice and technical innovative solutions to founders, entrepreneurs, and C-level executives with a focus on transportation technology and organizational growth. With extensive experience navigating the challenges that face both public and private organizations, Randy is able to guide his clients towards successful outcomes.

Prior to establishing his own firm, Randy was the Leader of State and Local Transportation for Amazon Web Services (AWS). In that position he led Amazon’s data support and analysis services for state and local transportation agencies, including; artificial intelligence support; use of AWS services in development of new technology in transportation; and other uses of AWS services by state and local transportation agencies. Randy’s career is rooted in nearly four decades of public service. Before his time at AWS, he served over ten years as Executive Director of the Contra Costa Transportation Authority – recognized as one of the most innovative transportation agencies in the United States. He founded GoMentum Station, the largest secure automated vehicle test facility in the nation. Prior to that he was a 27-year employee of the California Department of Transportation, where he rose through the ranks to become Chief Deputy Director from 2004 to 2009 and Director from 2009 to 2010.

Chief Technologist
Jason Brown brings over 21 years of expertise in software engineering, system design, and project management, with a focus on developing and implementing robust data pipelines to support AI use cases. He has extensive experience managing data security and preparing both structured and unstructured data for advanced AI applications. As a Certified Scrum Master, Jason excels in applying Agile methodologies to ensure adaptive and efficient software development processes, consistently delivering high-quality solutions.

Jason has been a key architect of the Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) data repository and knowledge base, driving the platform’s design and implementation to enable data-driven decision-making and organizational insights. His hands-on expertise spans the full data lifecycle, including data collection, processing, archiving, visualization, and web application development at scale. He played a pivotal role as a developer in creating industry-defining platforms such as the California Performance Measurement System (PeMS), the SHRP II program’s data repository, Iteris’ cloud-based Maintenance Decision Support System (MDSS), and the ClearAg Viewer.

In addition to his technical accomplishments, Jason served as the product owner for a company-wide design system, integrating user-centric design principles with engineering practices to enhance product functionality and user experience. His deep expertise in building scalable data ecosystems and leveraging AI capabilities positions him as an invaluable contributor to projects aiming to harness the transformative power of data and technology.
Dan Tahir photo
Dan Tahir
Software Engineer
Danial Nadeem Tahir is a software engineer who has worked for Davteq since July of 2024 as a full stack developer working with AI, data analytics and data visualization using Node.js on the backend and frontend. He graduated in May of 2024 from San Francisco State University with a B.S. in Computer Science and a 3.78 GPA, having taken and excelled in courses that covered C, C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript. Projects Dan completed as a student include an operating system, an autonomous vehicle, and multiplayer online Texas Hold'em poker.

Since joining Davteq, Dan has contributed major features to several projects. His most notable project is LoomIQ, Davteq's flagship AI data analytics product, for which he is the exclusive prompt engineer and primary software architect. Working on LoomIQ and its predecessor product Dan prepared over 10 separate complex datasets for AI analysis comprising over 100,000,000 records, including data cleaning and conversion and writing comprehensive metadata. He has also contributed to the Contra Costa Transportation Authority's Current Conditions map, a real-time live-updating map of all county buses and their upcoming stops.

In his time at Davteq, Dan has gained significant experience working with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js, and React.js, as well as significant experience working with AI analyzing and returning complex data. He has also worked extensively with AWS Services including Lambdas, Step Functions, SQS Queues, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, and Athena. Dan looks forward to future opportunities to further develop his skills and contribute to the success of Davteq and its clients.
Cleveland Plonsey photo

Software Engineer
Cleveland Plonsey is a DevOps engineer and cloud architect at Davteq, where he has been instrumental in modernizing the company's infrastructure and development practices since March 2025. With a strong foundation in cloud architecture and automation, he designed and implemented Davteq's CI/CD pipeline and developed numerous shell scripts and automation tools that have significantly improved deployment efficiency and system reliability. His expertise in Terraform enables him to provision and manage complex AWS infrastructure as code, ensuring scalable, maintainable, and secure cloud environments. As both a DevOps specialist and versatile software engineer, he contributes to application feature development, bridging the gap between infrastructure and application teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.

Prior to joining Davteq, Cleveland served as the Frontend Lead at Flow.ai Turbo, where he honed his skills in TypeScript and modern web development frameworks. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from San Francisco State University, where he developed a strong theoretical foundation that complements his practical expertise. His technical proficiency spans the full stack, with particular strength in TypeScript development, cloud infrastructure management, and automation engineering. He has extensive hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudFormation, and various other cloud-native technologies, always implementing infrastructure as code principles through Terraform to ensure reproducibility and version control.

Beyond his primary role in DevOps and cloud architecture, Cleveland brings a unique perspective to technical challenges through his background as a jazz pianist/keyboardist and bass player who composes both contemporary and classical pieces. He leverages this musical discipline in his solo software projects, developing applications for music composition that combine his technical expertise with artistic interests.

Yusuke Imamura
Designer
Yusuke Imamura, a multi-award-winning UX designer and product manager, brings over 24 years of expertise in driving the development of user-centered, innovative products across diverse industries. His unique skill set combines deep knowledge of product strategy, UX design, and software development, with a specialization in ML/AI data-driven solutions. Yusuke is known for bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and user-centric solutions, ensuring that products are not only technically advanced but also intuitive and impactful. Mr. Imamura’s invaluable involvement the Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) AI-related features showcases his ability to translate complex AI functionalities into intuitive and engaging interfaces. By focusing on user-centered design principles, he ensured that CCTA’s AI-driven solutions were not only visually appealing but also accessible, transparent and actionable for a broad range of stakeholders. Throughout his career, Mr. Imamura has gained hands-on marketing and design experience across more than 10 industries, including transportation, weather technology, HR solutions, e-commerce, marketing, beauty and fashion, banking, entertainment, agriculture, and commodities. This diverse background has equipped him with a unique ability to adapt design methodologies to varied contexts and challenges, delivering tailored solutions that drive engagement and effectiveness.

A strong advocate of design thinking, Mr. Imamura excels in conceptualizing and bringing ideas to life, ensuring that user needs and experiences remain at the forefront.
